The process of distillation for Monkey 47 is unrivalled and complex. Using both distillation and steam extraction, the master distiller is able to regulate flavour and selectively highlight individual notes.
A third of the botanicals come from the Black Forest: spruce, elderflower, blackthorn, and bramble leaves, to name just a few. The chief attraction, however, is the use of fresh cranberries as a Black Forest secret weapon.
The quality of these ingredients is fully brought to bear through masterly distillation and maturation in traditional earthenware containers for three months until it is perfectly balanced, then crisp Black Forest spring water is added to dilute the spirit to a drinkable 47% ABV.
